Éclipse Film is a Budapest-based independent film production company, founded by Julianna Ugrin in 2011. The company concentrates on high-quality productions with relevant, particular or artistic content. It develops and produces mainly documentaries, but also author fiction films, commercials and corporate films on an international level. However, our primary focus is on creative documentaries. Since its foundation, Éclipse Film has managed to connect young, talented Hungarian filmmakers with experienced members of the industry. Our films have participated in festivals like SUNDANCE, IDFA, HotDocs, DOK Leipzig, Sarajevo IFF, CPH:DOX, to name but a few. The company is also a co-organizer of DunaDOCK, EURODOC and KineDok.
  • Julianna Ugrin
    Founder and Producer
    EFA-nominated producer and founder in 2011 of Éclipse Film, focusing on creative documentaries for the Hungarian and international markets. She has produced A Woman Captured, Easy Lessons and The Next Guardian, screened, nominated and awarded at festivals including Sundance, IDFA, Locarno, Hot Docs and Sheffield. In 2019 she was selected to Producers on the Move in Cannes. Since 2013 she teaches at the University of Theatre and Film Arts in Documentary MA studies and is working on her doctoral thesis there. A Eurodoc and an EAVE graduate, president of the Hungarian Documentary Association (MADOKE), founder of Documentary Association of Europe (DAE) and a member of the Hungarian and the European Film Academy. Holy Dilemma is her first film as producer and director.

  • Zsófia Zurbó
    Associate Producer, Production Manager
    Studied Film Studies at ELTE University, Budapest, and graduated in 2013. She also studied at Charles University, and FAMU, Prague in 2012. Joined Éclipse Film in 2015 as production manager and assistant producer, where she became junior producer. Meantime, she was also, working on different projects such as the TV-documentary series Taboos Without Taboos as a scriptwriter and head of research in AMC Network, or several documentaries in Focusfox Studio as script writer and assistant director. She is the Hungarian coordinator of KineDok from 2016. She also works in Verzió International Human Rights Film Festival as coordinator of the industry program (2018) and coordinator of DocLab (2021). She is part of the organizing team of DunaDOCK workshop and MasterClass series and member of MADOKE.

    Associate Producer, Production Manager
    Studied Film Studies at ELTE University (grad. 2017) and studied Production Management and Film Producing at the University of Theatre and Film Arts, Budapest (grad. 2020). During and after her university years she worked as a production manager on numerous short films and as an assistant director on several Hungarian and international feature films, series, documentaries and commercials. For a few years now she has also been working as a director on commercials and image films made with documentarist methods and style. She joined Éclipse Film in January of 2022 as a production manager, where she became associate producer and is currently working on various projects of the company. She attended the Green Film Lab workshop in 2023 and oversees environmentally conscious and sustainable production at Éclipse Film.

    Production Coordinator
    Studied Film and Media Studies - specialization in filmmaking - at Eszterházy Károly University (grad. 2016) and studied Film Studies MA - specialised as director - at Eötvös Loránd University (grad. 2019). During and after her university years she worked in the production department, especially as an assistant director on numerous Hungarian and international short films, feature films, series, and commercials. Her diploma short film from 2019 (My Breakfast Is Your Dinner) won several awards. After that she started working as a director in various projects - directed a tv-mini series, commercials and music videos. She joined Éclipse Film as a production coordinator in 2022 and is currently working on various projects of the company, including commissioned projects, and feature length documentaries.

    Office production assistant
    Studied Film Studies at Pázmány Péter Catholic University (grad. 2019) and studied Television Production Arts MA (Specialization in Film & Video Editing and Camera Operation) at Budapest Metropolitan University (grad. 2023). During and after her university years she worked as a production manager on numerous short films and as a production assistant on several Hungarian and international feature films, series, and commercials. She joined Éclipse Film as a trainee in 2022 and after her graduation she became an office production assistant and is currently working on various projects of the company. Meanwhile she works as a freelancer editor as well as she supports Éclipse Film’s projects with her editorial skills through post-production processes.
