What happens when you grew up in an Eastern European family that has been silent about its past but you suddenly feel you’ve found your roots on the other side of the planet - in South India?

As I started to discover my own identity among the Cochin Jews of India, I realized my newly found Indian “grandmother” is the last of a dwindling community – that lived in happy coexistence with Muslims, Hindus and Christians for centuries.
